As a data analyst, what kind of career path should you take? What will you do when you become a data analyst? In this article, data analyst Alex Freberg talked to us about these issues and see what we should do! p>
< span >Hello everyone, today we will discuss the career development path of data analysis.
< span >Specifically, we will talk about:
Let' s talk about the first point, how to become a data analyst.

< span >First of all, before becoming a data analyst, we embark on this career path, and what we have to do at the beginning is to learn relevant skills.

To become a data analyst, I think the three most necessary skills are:
It is very useful at the beginning, but some of the difficult ones are:
But practice makes perfect with these skills. As you go further and further in your career path, these skills will continue to accumulate and improve.
In order to become a data analyst, you need to learn these skills from the beginning.
The next thing you need to do is to make a personal resume.
Your resume is a snapshot of who you are to the employer. Therefore, it is very important to make a good resume. Make sure to mold yourself into the talent that others want to hire.
Therefore, there are several key points to pay attention to when making and establishing:
< span >First, emphasize the skills you are best at.
If SQL is your strong point, mention SQL at least three times in your resume. For example, put it in the summary section, skills section, work experience, or at least in the portfolio.
< span >Then in the resume, remove irrelevant work experience or skills.
Suppose you have been a chef for the past five years. Now for some reason, you want to become a data analyst. Then there is no need to list the skills you learned when you were a chef.
Now you want to mainly enumerate the relevant skills you learned after deciding to switch to a data analyst.
It should be noted here that if you have mastered a lot of domain expertise in your previous work.
For example, you have five years of working experience as a nurse. The nurse does not have a lot of experience in data analysis, but if you plan to work in a medical analysis company, your background as a nurse is very useful.
< span >Finally, the resume must be organized and professional.
I have read many resumes, and I often find that many job applicants’ resumes have not kept pace with the times and remain in their previous state.
Therefore, a timely updated resume will be of great help.
Another point is that many people have headshots or bright colors attached to their resumes. My general suggestion is to make your resume more concise, with lower-key colors, such as choosing colors that are not too bright.
In the next step, you need to create a portfolio.
The purpose is to show employers what you can do, the skills you master, the steps you take, and what they will get if you hire you.
< span >Usually I would recommend preparing 2 to 5 projects.
Many people ask me how to develop a project and how to build a portfolio. Here are the steps to create a portfolio:
< span >First, get a data set or collect data.
Crawl data from web pages, or get data sets on Kaggle or Google.
< span >Next, the data is cleaned and converted so that it can be used later.
You can use pandas in Python or SQL to complete this step.
After cleaning the data, it is recommended to put the data in SQL . So that you can generate views, but also show the capabilities of SQL.
Then connect the data visualization tool to the view to generate the visualization. There are many changes that can be made, such as the way of collecting data, transforming it, and visualizing it.
The above are the basic steps to build a portfolio.
The last thing to do is how to show your portfolio to employers.
You can publish it on Github, or create a personal website. I suggest putting the corresponding link in the resume.
The next thing I want to suggest is to cooperate with headhunters.
I used to establish contact with headhunters in order to find a job. Now I contact headhunters to recruit people, so I know their importance in the recruitment process.
If you haven' t thought about this before, here are a few simple ways to try.
First of all you can use LinkedIn. Trying from LinkedIn is a good choice. Many headhunters will look at LinkedIn when recruiting, and then contact for interviews.
So in the LinkedIn profile, you can write: Then you want to find a job as a data analyst or junior data analyst. Let the headhunters take the initiative to come to you with job opportunities.
If you don' t want to wait passively, you can also take the initiative to contact the headhunter by phone or email.
I suggest calling and chatting with the headhunters to let them know your situ
